Ryan Doolittle is the host of the Happiest Retirees podcast, a writer/producer for the Retire Sooner and Money Matters teams, and a copywriter for Capital Investment Advisors.
His foray into finance began in 2013 when Wes Moss was looking for someone to help him bottle his dynamic ideas about early retirement. Bounteous brainstorms, copious conversations, and wall-to-wall writing sessions soon commenced. With help from Bree Barton, they ended up with the best-selling book, You Can Retire Sooner Than You Think: The 5 Money Secrets of the Happiest Retirees. Several years later, the trio teamed up again to write What the Happiest Retirees Know: 10 Habits for a Healthy, Secure, and Joyful Life. From there, Ryan became an intrinsic member of the Retire Sooner network—drafting articles, producing podcasts and radio shows, and eventually hosting his own podcast.
Ryan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production from Loyola Marymount University, where he won the Samuel Z. Arkoff Award, and a Master of Professional Writing from the University of Southern California. He’s spent time on stage performing all sorts of dad jokes, and appeared on television, including VH1’s sketch comedy show Stevie TV and Adult Swim’s The Last Open Mic at the End of the World.
Ryan and his wife, Amanda, live in Los Angeles, CA, with their beautiful baby boy, Keaton. In his free time, Ryan enjoys doing the dishes, taking out the trash, and meeting work deadlines. He has also developed an unexpected love for gardening and his neighbors seem to enjoy the sunflowers. In future years, Ryan’s core pursuits will be spending more time on an elliptical machine, playing tennis, teaching his son basketball, performing more standup comedy, and finally saying yes to his wife’s pleas for expensive international excursions.
