Q&A with Ricky Yang

What did you do before joining Capital Investment Advisors?

I was an Associate Wealth Management Advisor helping families with their financial wellbeing.

What prompted you to pursue a career in wealth management / financial planning?

I want to help and educate families so that they can feel more confident with their finances. My goal for them is to have financial peace of mind and be able to live a more fulfilling life.

During the interview process, how did you know Capital Investment Advisors was right for you?

It took some time after I started working here to experience the work culture and understand how Capital applies its core values and carries out its’ mission. I can say now that I am very grateful to be here. During the interviewing process, Hannah Kaplan and Joel Dean made me feel very welcomed and cared for. I liked that Capital is a fee-only firm, so the best interest of the families we serve is our top priority.

What does a typical day look like as an Investment Associate?

We have a wide range of responsibilities and do whatever it takes to serve our families well. A typical day involves trading, participating in client meetings, and collaborating with colleagues. It’s not common for us to work alone behind a screen day in and day out.

How do Investment Associates collaborate with the Advisors? Investment team?

We partner with advisors by supporting them with trading, client meetings, and special projects depending on the personalized needs for each family. Advisors teach and mentor us to develop and refine the skills necessary as an Advisor.

What drives you professionally? What areas of your role do you find most fulfilling?

I am very thankful to work at Capital Investment Advisors. I feel supported. That’s important to me. What I find most fulfilling right now is participating in client meetings, learning about them, and helping them make the best decisions for themselves.

What is your favorite thing about working at Capital Investment Advisors?

The firm caters lunch to us every other Wednesday! We call it Wild Wednesdays. Thanks, Barbara Pinyan!
