Q&A with Mary Margaret Boyd
What did you do before joining Capital Investment Advisors?
I worked for the University of Georgia in the Development and Alumni Relations department. I worked closely with the Alumni Board of Directors as well as the affinity councils.
Did you always want to work in financial services/wealth management?
I didn’t know much about wealth management. I heard about Capital when I attended the University of Georgia, and I thought it would be a great place to learn about financial services!
During the interview process, how did you know Capital Investment Advisors was right for you?
After coming in and meeting with some of the operations team, I knew it would be a rewarding opportunity. The core values are what stuck out to me the most, and I could tell the work culture was very positive.
What does a typical day look like as a Junior Client Service Associate at Capital Investment Advisors?
A typical day for an operations assistant is working with the entire team to ensure our clients and their families’ needs are met. I work closely with the Client Service Associates and Client Service Managers with phone calls, clerical work, and anything else the team might need.
What does the operations team look like? How do you work together? With advisors?
The team works closely with clients and advisors. We all work together to make sure the day-to-day operations are running smoothly and to help our families feel at home when working with us. We have our small operations meetings every other week and our big operations meeting once a month to go over our goals for the team!
What drives you professionally? What areas of your role do you find most fulfilling?
Curiosity has always driven me professionally. My parents instilled in me at an early age to never stop learning, and I try to bring that into every aspect of my life. I’ve learned so much here at Capital. What I find most fulfilling is working with a motivated team of people who strive for one common goal in helping our families work toward a happy retirement!
What is your favorite thing about working at Capital Investment Advisors?
Definitely the people! Everyone strives to truly embody the core values. CIA has been so welcoming, and they want to help you succeed not only professionally but also personally. Two of the core values that really stick out to me when describing the culture here are “Be Passionate” and “Every Person Matters.”
What might a prospective team member be interested in learning about this role?
The operations assistant role is a great way to learn about wealth management and financial services. Every person on the team has taken the time to explain the different roles of the job and why this role is important!
