Your Total Investment Savings shows the estimated amount of investment savings you should have by age you submitted as when you want to retire. These numbers are based off of what you inputted under Expected Income Generated From Your Savings Once You Retire. Your Annual Investment Income From Savings is based off of the Total Investment Savings, Projected Rate of Return on Investments, and Annual Withdrawal Rate From Savings. Simply click the Back button on this page (please note, do not hit the back button in your browser or you will start over), and adjust the information under these sections to adjust your investment savings and annual income from savings.
To read the timeline, first look at the Legend which shows the colors of your different income sources. Then identify you (circle) and your spouse (triangle). You’ll then want to trace from the top to read the year that you or your spouse will start receiving a certain income (depending on the color and shape of the icon), and below that you’ll see your age in the color of the income type you’ll receive and below that is the age that your spouse will start receiving income. If you entered information into a field that had a start and end date, then you’ll see the icon split in half to show the year when you’ll start receiving the income (the left side of the icon) and the year you’ll stop receiving the income (right side). If you did not include an end date then you’ll only see the start (left side) of the icon.
The chart below the timeline breaks down the year and age you and your spouse will start and stop receiving your monthly income based on what you first entered. We automatically have you start taking your investment income at the age that you put in you wanted to retire. While we show the year you’ll start receiving the income, we break down the financials based on your monthly income. To calculate your annual income, simply take the amount in the Joint Income column and multiply it by 12.
