On a panel with three other financial experts, Matt Reiner recently accepted an invitation to sit down with Barron’s to discuss how he chooses ETFs, which ones to stay away from, what he sees ahead, and– when he thinks ETFs aren’t useful.
During the interview, Reiner shared “The ETF industry has become like a supermarket. You can’t go in and not know what you want — you’ll end up buying all those things that you won’t ever eat. You have to go in saying ‘What do I need?’ For instance, ‘I need high yield exposure.’ Ok so now I can go in and look at the iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond Fund [HYG] … Now I have a feasible task ahead of me; I can analyze funds and perform due diligence.”
